Phil Barrett BA(hons)

I have always been a creative soul, from my first career as an illustrator and designer, I have drawn, painted and sculpted all my life.

My First Career

My first career resulted in illustrating for some of the world’s largest greeting card producers, working in their Telford studio and seeing my work published globally, was amazing. After nearly 20 years, the latter part managing the studio pre-production and design side of things, I had a change in direction. I went back to university, just to decide on what to do after being faced with redundancy.

It was there I set up PbArtWorks whilst completing my second degree….it was to be a design, come photography agency, a one-stop shop. However, it was my photography that really caught fire, my approach to weddings in particular, at that time, was pretty unique. No forced smiles, no cheesy grins…just natural effortless, real, photography. I’ve now been covering weddings for over 10 years at stunning venues across Shropshire, Cheshire, North Wales & further afield.

My Love Of Creativity & The Camera

I often find myself wandering around the town where I live, taking random images of the beautiful landscapes, this is where I first started my love of creativity and the camera. I am always capturing the beauty around myself, it is what I do.

The Beauty Of Photography

I simply live and breathe photography and all its beauty.

Winter is a gorgeous time of the year to capture those “selfish” frames as I like to call them, often losing myself in the quietness and solitude. A welcome break from the fast-paced awesomeness of a wedding day.

The same stretch of the canal is only seen at a different time of the year. Often I am seen walking along this stretch of Ellesmere’s canal accompanied by my “girls”. They are my life and soul and come with me pretty much everywhere now my own girls are grown and “fled” the nest.

My real love for creating beautiful imagery is something I have always had, be it through pen and brush, or camera and lens. All I set out to do is to make people, my couples, their family and friends, happy.

My work ethic, from my career as an illustrator, right through to today, tomorrow and beyond, has always been, good enough is never good enough!
